Facility Use

The Harward Recreation Center is a space shared by many individuals with different interests and abilities.  It's important to be considerate, allowing for all individuals to enjoy the facility and its amenities.  Patrons shall treat the facility with great care so all users can experience a well maintained recreation center.

The Harward Recreation Center will enforce all policies and procedures pertaining to facility use and personal conduct of participants. To protect public safety and facility integrity, the Harward Recreation Center reserves the right to suspend or revoke user privileges.

Insurance/Liability

The City of Nampa, the Harward Recreation Center and the Nampa Recreation Department assume no responsibility for injuries or accidents occurring on City property or during City programs.

The Harward Recreation Center assumes no responsibility for the physical conditions or actions of the participants. Participants agree to hold the City of Nampa and its agents harmless from liability, loss, cost, or expense that may result from use of facilities or services. Furthermore, the City of Nampa assumes no responsibility for injuries or accidents occurring on City property or during City programs.

Cameras & Video Recorders

The Harward Recreation Center reserves the right to not allow video or photography if it is determined inappropriate or creates concerns with other patrons using our facility.  Please see Harward Rec Center staff for permission and guidelines.

Lost or Stolen Items

The Harward Recreation Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items. In an effort to discourage theft, the Harward Recreation Center’s facilities are under video surveillance. The cameras are rotated to different areas randomly and unannounced. Securing personal belongings in a locked locker is necessary to prevent theft. When using lockers in the facility, the patron assumes the risk that the lockers may be burglarized.

Equipment Check Out Policies

The Harward Recreation Center has the following equipment available for check out:

  • Basketballs
  • Climbing Equipment (fee applies)
  • Harness and Shoe Combination (fee applies)
  • Jump Ropes
  • Pickleball Paddles
  • Pickleballs
  • Racquetball Goggles
  • Racquetball Racquets
  • Racquetballs may be purchased
  • Reading Racks
  • Volleyballs
  • Wallyball Sets

In order to check out a piece of equipment the patron must leave a photo ID or some form of collateral. The Harward Recreation Center is unable to accept articles of clothing, hats, shoes, hair accessories, bags or money. The patron is responsible for the equipment that has been checked out to them. If the equipment is lost, stolen or damaged, replacement fees will be charged.

Membership ID Cards

Members are required to scan their Harward Recreation Center ID card prior to entry. One ID card per member will be issued at time of purchase or renewal. A replacement fee will be imposed if replacement is necessary thereafter.

Aquatic Center

Swimmers 5 years of age and younger must be directly accompanied by and adult at all times in the aquatic center. Children 13 years of age and younger are not permitted in the Spa. Sauna and Steam Room facilities are adult only (18 plus).

Cardio Equipment

The cardiovascular equipment is available for participants ages 12 and older. Children 11 years of age and younger may utilize equipment under their parent’s direct supervision. Direct supervision indicates that the child is within arms reach of the parent.

Climbing Wall

Annual liability waivers are required for all participants. Climbers 17 years of age and younger must have a parent’s signature on the liability waiver. An adult must accompany all climbers 11 years of age and younger at all times. Participants must be 13 or older to belay another climber.

Bouldering Wall

The Bouldering Wall is open anytime for climbers age 6 and older. Climbers 5 years of age and younger must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Do not climb or stand under other climbers. Shoes are required.

Group & Aquatic Fitness

Cardio Based Classes

Children ages 9 - 12 may attend classes when accompanied by an adult and with instructor approval. Children 13 and older may attend classes without an adult, with instructor approval. The exception would be Zumba and Yoga, in which children younger than 9 would be allowed to “dance” next to their parent, as long as they are engaged in class. Instructor always has discretion to determine what activity/equipment each participant is mature enough to safely use, regardless of age.

Strength and Resistance Based Classes

Children ages 9 – 12 may attend classes when accompanied by an adult and with instructor approval, doing body weight exercises only. Children 13 and older may attend without an adult with instructor approval. Instructor always has discretion to determine what activity/equipment each participant is mature enough to safely use, regardless of age. 

Indoor Track

The track is available for participants ages 6 and older. Children 5 years of age and younger may use the track under their parent’s direct supervision. Skates/roller shoes, strollers and skateboards are not permitted on the track at anytime. Please use designated lanes for walking or running.

Play Center

The Harward Recreation Center offers childcare for parents while they work out; parents must remain on the premises while their children attend the Play Center. Only parents or legal guardians can check children into and out of the Play Center. Due to space limitations and care requirements, only children 5 and younger may be checked into the Play Center.

Racquetball Courts

Courts may be schedule and utilized by participants of all ages.

Weight Room Age Policy

The weight room is reserved for individuals 15 years and older. Youth 13 and 14 years old may obtain weight room privileges by completing the Harward Recreation Center's Youth Strength Training Course. The Harward Recreation Center offers the ZONE for 10 to 14 year-olds and functional training under certain parameters for those as young as 6 years old. Each youth participant must complete an orientation with a trainer and sign a Youth Training Pledge and Consent Form (PDF) along with their parent before engaging in training.
